Laser Therapy Management of Autonomic Nervous System Conditions

Length:

Original Webinar Date:

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates a variety of body process that takes place without conscious effort. The ANS is the part of the peripheral nervous system that is responsible for regulating involuntary body functions, such as heartbeat, blood flow, breathing, and digestion. In short, it keeps you alive. Thankfully we do not have to think about the ANS function to get us through our daily functions. If the heart rate needs to be increased, then it happens. If hormones need to be released for this or that, you don't have to figure out what to do. It just happens automatically - under normal conditions.

What about abnormal ANS issues like postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), autonomic dystonia, or amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome (AMPS)?  Can photobiomodulation be applied to various portions of the ANS for health benefits? We are finding that the answer is YES!

Join Dr. Christopher Carraway and his special guest, Dr. Timothy Demchak, Professor of Applied Medicine and Rehabilitation at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He is also the founder, director, and head clinician of the Athletic Training Service at the Wabash Valley Heath Center in Indiana. Together they will be exploring some of the current work being done in the field of management and treatment of ANS disorders.
